"In 1982 Pelikan started a remake of the legendary model 400 from the 1950's with the classical basic shape. With the model name M400 first of all appears the color black/green. This model was a great success. Apart from the feed the new model M400 looks like the model 400 from the 1950's."

Indeed, this is the 1982 original rebirth of the original 1951 400 model, and its nearly identical. Unlike later M400 that bare little resemblance to the original 400's, these early 80's 400's are nearly identical and better build quality. Unlike the new M400, this first series M400 features a truly flexible nibs. These nibs are simply astonishing, melting on the paper, smooth as a paint brush. The nib will produce all sorts of lines, from F fine to a BB double and even 3B triple broad. The writing produced with such nib is amazing, with line thickness variation on every letter. Such nibs are no longer made on new fountain pens. Very colorful high gloss see through tortoise shell green body, crisp imprints and thick gold filled trimmings. This is the Pelikan flagship pen for years. Logo located on top of the cap and still with its green filling. Very smooth on the paper, perfect writer, great feel in the hand and superb grip, perfectly balanced pen posted or not. The pen is in mint condition, NOS new old stock, never used. One of the best Pelikan pens ever made, and THE best M400.
