The most popular refill in the world just got much much better! Offered here is a rare and newer type of the famous A2 standard refill, the G1. The G1 is A2 on steroids, it has 3x the capacity of the A2 refill, and the best part is that if A2 fits your pen, chances are this G1 will. We are yet to find a vintage pen that uses A2 refills where this G1 does not fit.
So how is this done?
Basically, someone figured out that the most popular refill in the world used for many many decades can be enlarged and that is only in the midsection of the refill which does not interfere with the spring size/length/diameter of the older type refill, as well as has the same diameter ending on the top of the refill where the refill enters the pen's mechanism. Since it is safe to assume that most ballpoint pens will have a much wider diameter at the midsection than a regular A2 refill requires (only 3.2mm), it was correctly assumed that widening the refill at the midbody would make no compatibility issues. Hence that is the G1. By our measurements it has 3x the capacity of a standard A2 refill, that is where the A2 has only ~0.33 cubic cm of the reservoir, this G1 has nearly ~1 cubic cm reservoir. Even though we have not tested it yet, some claim this refill writes approximately 6000m line length (~3.7mi.). That means this refill will fill up/write approximately 300 A4/letterhead pages with average size handwriting, which is on average 40 rows per page x 0.5m line length per row, i.e. 6000m/20m=300 pages, which comes about right. That is also nearly 3 times what A2 can write (100-120) pages, so volume size vs ink capacity seems to be correct 3:1 G1: A2.

There are some additional benefits of using this refill. For one thing, it makes the pen considerably heavier. This makes the pen feel more sturdy and tangible in the hand, also makes it glide over the paper more easily and smoothly, provides more pressure naturally. Secondly, in a way, it hardens the pen and its mechanism as the components inside have less space to move and wobble inside the pen. Hence it makes for a better pen and writing experience altogether, and we just love it!

This refill is compatible with Schneider's 575/75 metal A2 refills and will fit most vintage and many new ballpoint pens. The refill features waterproof ink, perfect for any job. Super-high precision with 0.6mm line, M medium width line, stainless steel front ball-tip ensures no skipping and constant smooth writing. Some European brands (vintage and new) that use these refills are Pelikan, Reform, Rotring, Fend, Kaweco, Senator, Diplomat, Aurora, CdA, and others. Please note that this is not always the case as there some periods and some models of each manufacturer that uses their own specific or other types of refills.
