Condition and information:
In the rivalry of the East and West technology, it was usually the East that looked to the West before making their own products. But this was not always the case. Garant was one of the few East German companies that made some amazing writing instruments, and usually with the very original design. Garant was a well-known East Germany pen company, to rival the most western brands. It was also one of the biggest pen manufacturers in East Germany and one of the most innovative ones. They made some astonishing writing instruments with know-how that even surpassed other western German brands. The pen offered here is their flagship pen, the biggest of them all, carrying the name "ALKOR".The pen is made out of shiny black resin, which not only gives great shine and appeal of the pen but it is also scratch protective. The piston turning knob features discrete inscriptions with the company branding name and the name of the model of the pen.
The pen is oversize, very thick, long, and heavy. It is a greatly reinforced pen, rarely seen, with 3 metal crack preventing rings on the cap and even one on the turning knob. The build quality is visible and palpable, it's simply a superior writing instrument. It takes an enormous volume of ink, so once filled it will write for a long time. Due to its unusual thickness, it has a very good grip and writing balance posted or not posted. It features a very unique cap-covered turning knob. The reason behind this capped tuning knob is that the user cannot accidentally turn the turning knob, which will result in ink leakage, so this feature is quite useful.
The pen is fitted with an enormous EF size nib, similar to the one on the Montblanc 14. The nib is crafted in gold plated steel but unusually for a steel nib, it has semi to full flexibility, thus if pressed gently while writing it will write wider lines. It's very smooth on the paper and precise too. Another unusual feature of the pen is the enormous ink windows, fully transparent. Unlike other tainted ink windows, here the user will be able to see the exact color of the ink being used. Truly rare and wonderful Garant East Germany pen, one of the best ever made.
The pen is in mint condition, with minimal to no signs of use, fully functional ready to be used.
