Condition and information:
One of Italy's best pen manufacturers, Aurora, and here is one of the theirs most famous models, the vintage 98 Riserva Magica model, produced in the mid to late 60's. This pen is the sucessor of the famous 88K pen, but unlike it's predecessor which had a standard piston filling action, this pen has a one of the kind, Aurora patented and marketed as "magic piston" filling action. This is achieved by simply retracting the turning knob inside the barrel with a push button same as in ballpoint pens, simply press the push knob and the button extends which allows the user to turn the piston inside, press a second time and the turning knob retracts inside the barrel, preventing the turning knob action, thus any accidental turns/leaks. Very unique and masterful solution to a piston filling action.

Drawing from its predecessor, this pen has the same form factor as the 88K, which some users argue this is the pen with the purest and most elegant form factor, fits in the hand as it was meant to be, with a perfect feel, weight, handling and grip. The pen is elegant, stylish, gold filled body and cap and semi-hooded beautifully crafted wing nib. Very nice and crisp guilloche lines from top to bottom. The nib is smooth, precise EF with very little flex, and great for writing in small typeface such as notebooks. Very smooth piston action, with a grey ink window for ink lever readout. Definitely one of the most beautiful and great fountain pens of Italy, the original Aurora 98. The pen is in mint condition with minimal signs of use, no gold ware off and no personal engravings.
