1930s Pelikan 200 Auch 1.18mm Mechanical Pencil

Offered here is the first mechanical pencil made by Pelikan, the AUCH-Pelikan, also known as 200 model. Launched in 1934 this was the companion of the original Pelikan 100 Fountain Pen. The pencil original designation was No. 200, however it is also referred as original No.100 pencil due to the famous Pelikan 100 pen. The pencil is also known as the "AUCH" model, which in literal translations means "also or too", as in "This is a Pelikan also". The pencil is made out of hard rubber, similar to Bakelite. It is extremely well build, tough mechanical brass components, meant to last. All metal parts are gold filed. The pencil uses 1.18 lead, and it has precision push button with distinct clicking sound when push button is pressed. With such thick lead refills the refill can be deployed 3-5mm out, which provides with a great viewing space and precision while drawing or writing. These are still one of the best Pelikan pencils all time unmatched in quality, ergonomics and performance. Nearly 90 years old, this pencil still performs as the day it was made, still with its green color inlays, truly amazing build quality as only Pelikan can make. The pencil is in mint condition rarely found in such and comes with 10 leads. Length 123mm. Inscription under the push button is: "AUCH-Pelikan D.R.P." DRP stand for Deutsches Reich Patent.
