Rare 1950's Spanish MONTBLANC No. 220 Wiese Celluloid Flexible Tortoise Brown Striped Fountain Pen Item ID: MON-006

Condition and information:
One of the most special Montblanc pens, a wonderful extremely rare version of the Spanish Montblanc factory, the model No. 220, in mint condition, no scratches, no cracks, perfectly preserved. The pen was made in the early 50's, by the small Montblanc factory in Barcelona Spain. After the WWII, Spain did not allow any import of any German made goods, so in order to resurrect Montblanc in this market, a German family Wiese opened a small factory which produced the Montblanc pens with all patent rights from Montblanc Germany in Hamburg. The pen is based on the 50's Montblanc pens such as 342, 344 and similar models, but unlike those which are piston fillers, this one is a rare push button filler. On the side of the cap there is an imprint saying "Fabricado En Espania Fur E. Wiese", which translates to "Made in Spain for E. Wiese" which is same as saying "Made in Germany for Montblanc", which proves the trouble this factory had to go through in order to be allowed to manufacture and sell these products. There are collectors who claim that this exact imprint is found on some pens made by Montblanc in Hamburg Germany and were secretly imported in Spain as being made in Spain in order to avoid the german goods import ban in Spain.
