Condition and information:
This is the original first series Montblanc Monte Rosa model made in 1953. This model is famous for its reliability, design, functionality and reliability. The pen has a classic old style form factor based on the 2XX and 3XX models, it is identical to the No.342, with superb balance, handling and feel, easy to use yet powerful and reliable writing instrument. Very thick pen with a very good grip and feel in the hand. It has a solid brass piston system which can never fail and the piston has a double seal silicone cork. This was one of the first Montblanc pens to feature the silicone cork, that cannot leak, thus later became the industry standard. All trimmings are gold filled with crisp imprints. Perfectly clean blue large ink window. Piston files smoothly and takes a great amount of ink. Very easy to fill from a bottle of ink, and with one filling it can last up to a month. The nib is the best part, an original 342 solid 14K 585 gold nib, fully flexible F fine size, and will write all sizes up to BB double broad depending on the applied pressure. This produces some of the best writing one could hope to achieve with a fountain pen, with thin and thicker lines of every stroke on every letter. The nib is placed on the original ebonite feed which has a large ink canal providing a very constant ink flow. The pen is in absolute mint condition, near NOS. A true Montblanc masterpiece with amazing performance and timeless design.
