This was the flagship pen of the Pelikan's MK line, the 30 Rolled Gold model, also known as the M30. Unlike gold plate, this rolled gold will never ware off as its much thicker. When this pen was launched in the 60's, it was a radical change in design, similar to Montblanc's Noblesse series. These pens were very successful, reliable, very easy to use, fill and maintain. This pen was also the first Pelikan pen to feature airtight slip-on cap. This ensured a fast deployment of the pen where no tread was needed, but also a leak proof pen. The pen was so successful, that eventually there were more than 20 models based on this design. The pen offered here is in mint condition. The nib is solid 14K 585 gold, EF size very smooth on the paper. Beautiful purple ink window and logo located on top of the cap; crisp imprints and very nice guilloche lines on the cap. Piston is smooth; these MK pistons were the peak of piston technology by Pelikan with 8 parts and airtight, marketed as "airplane safe". This was meant to keep the ink always in place, also to be able to be used in different pressure environments. Truly remarkable Pelikan classic, still with amazing appeal and design, and still a perfect everyday fountain pen.
