Condition and information:
Exceptional Montblanc Monte Rosa pen of the mid to late 60s. There are many variants of the Monte Rosa line, some more elegant some more durable, this pen is a combination of both. These pens replaced the 042 and some 3XX models with the old torpedo shaped form factor, and since were targeted at the mid range market they were named Monte Rosa, i.e. the second highest peak on the Alps after Montblanc, Monte Rosa. This pen is a subvariant of the famous 402SG model, which is basically identical but it's cap is slip-on and not thread on such as on this pen. The success of these mid price range Montblanc pens was so great at the time, that Montblanc at some point made more Monte Rosa pens then it did Montblanc pens. Made out of black precious resin, the signature Montblanc material which gives the pen a unique shine but also a protection as this material is hard to scratch or damage. The pen's cap is solid steel, matte finish, so the pen is very tough but very elegant. Posted or not posted due to it's length has a perfect writing balance, grip, weight and feel in the hand. Very beautiful rhomboid shaped ink windows, and crisp imprints on the cap "Montblanc Monte Rosa". At 135mm, this is one of the longest of the Monte Rosa line, it takes good amount of ink, so once filled it can be used for quite a while. Smooth piston. The star of the show is the fully flexible nib which just splits in two when touched against the paper. The nib is elongated, long and slim thus with a very good viewing angle. With this nib little to no pressure is needed to write bigger sizes, simply a stunning writer! The pen will write up to BBB and with little to no effort, non-scratchy nib gliding on the paper. The nib is suspended on a original ebonite feeder and feed ring which provides for a great ink flow. One of the best vintage Montblanc Monte Rosa Pens ever made. The pen is in mint condition, with minimal to no signs of use.
