Offered here is one of the most amazing Montblanc pens of the 60s, the top of the line 72 model, and even more astonishing, in a NOS - New Old Stock condition, never used, a true 50+ year old time capsule. The 72 is one of the most beautiful pens of the early 60s, it is the flagship version of the time. This pen was completely new approach by Montblanc, both technologically with new materials and complete mechanical solutions and redesign compared to its predecessors. Montblanc was offering a lifetime warranty on this pen when it was originally sold. The 72 pen model is based on the famous model 22, one of the most complex Montblanc pens, with more then 20 parts making the pen. However the similarities end there, the 72 is a higher-end pen, has high grade precious balk resin and a thick rolled gold cap. Perfectly balanced pen, the heavy cap gives the necessary balance when posted. Black resin shines and its difficult to scratch. Amber yellow ink window providing easy ink level readout. Slip on cap for fast and secure closure and deployment. The front section is easily removable to expose both the barrel and the entire nib unit, so it's very easy and convenient to clean and maintain. The pen features a very nice, soft 18K 750 solid gold EF extra fine nib. The nib is smooth and the paper and non-scratching, semi-flexible, and it produces a wonderful F or even M lines when pressed gently, this will make the line change its thickness, thus producing some amazing line variation and writing. Montblanc signature stars on both cap and turning knob. The piston is smooth, with its original silicone cork and fills to the top each time. A true Montblanc Masterpiece as its name implies in nearly impossible to find NOS condition. Comes in its original presentation box with instructions, as it was sold at the time. On the last two photos you can see a US Montblanc catalog from the 60s on which this pen is featured. It is one of the high-end pens offered at the time, nearly same price as the 149 Montblanc model. The other 2 more expensive versions are full rolled gold (body too - model 82) as well as solid gold (model 92) of this pen.
