Made before the fall of the Berlin Wall, this pen is the cornerstone of the evolution of Lamy from a small Heidelberg writing implement factory to the market leader and brand manufacturer of international significance. The birth of the Lamy 2000 design began in 1966 and was without doubt the most important milestone, ddesigned by Gerd A. Müller. As a timeless classic it is still one of the most modern writing instruments today. With this design principle Lamy has won the hearts of many enthusiasts throughout the world. It's really hard to believe that this same pen and design are in production since 1966, 50 years and still beats most of current pens in almost any aspect. When it made its first appearance in the shop windows in 1966, it was the first writing instrument of the modern era which did not seek to be a status symbol but simply an honest, high-precision tool for writing. The Lamy 2000 is on permanent display at the Museum of Modern Art and has won many design awards. This ballpoint pen is made of modern materials, a body made of fiberglass known as Makrolon, in a fabulous black color (dark grey "gunmetal" color), matte brushed. This material is very thick, ~1mm, so it's nearly impossible to damage or crack. The push knob, the clip and the front section are in silver color, brushed aluminum. The unique spring-loaded clip is perfect, easily extending to any fabric or case thickness where it can be easily hanged. Lamy 2000 W Germany is engraved on the body of the pen. It has and easily replaceable Lamy M16 giant ballpoint refill still widely available today. The pen is lightweight so it is very easy to write with, but it's perfectly balanced pen. The pen features a push button mechanism, a very precise one with a distinct click sound. Such good ballpoint pen is one of the more useful instruments one can have at any time. The pen is in a mint condition, with no signs of use. "Lamy 2000 W. Germany" is engraved on the side of the pen and it has a very discrete company insignia on the other side.
