The pen offered here is a rare Senator pen from the 1980's, a classic demonstrator transparent pen. The demonstrator pen is unique as all of its components are visible. Also the pen will change color (the reservoir and the front grip section) to whatever ink color is being used. This gives the pen a remarkable stunning looks. The pen is made in the late 1980's by the Senator pen company, previously known as the Merz and Krell company. The famous Merz & Krell Pen Company was famous for manufacturing parts for many pen companies including Montblanc, Pelikan, Reform and others. This company even manufactured entire pen lines for Pelikan such as the 120 model type II and the rare 400NN Merz & Krell model. This company had many brands under its name, including Senator, Diplomat, the famous Melbi and others. Senator was their main brand in the 60's and early 70's. Some of the features of this will later be implemented on many other pen models to follow as well as some Pelikan pens. The pen offered here has similar to the Pelikan 120 type II pen, features that were developed by Merz and Krell, such as the 2 part piston system, which is extremely reliable and easy to use. The pen features a smooth M size stainless steel nib, which is a constant but great writer, producing same thickness line, great for long and demanding work where one needs not to worry about the nib, which is very tough and almost impossible to damage. This nib is also good for notebook writing as will not make a ink mess. The pen is in absolute mint condition, minimal to no signs of use, no cracks or scratches. The Senator Merz & Krell Pen Company is one of the oldest in Europe, with almost 100 years of tradition. They had a very strong collaboration with all great German pen companies, starting from Pelikan, Montblanc, Diplomat, Reform and other brands. One of the less know facts about Merz & Krell is that they produced many of the nibs for these companies, and other parts as well. The company is also renowned for many breakthroughs and inventions in the pen business. Today the company is highly restructured and oriented to the entrance class pen market, but they still manufacture some one of the best pens in the world.
