Condition and information:
We are very proud to offer this extremely rare and amazing Montblanc Masterpiece called the Solitaire 146 925 Sterling Silver Vermeil model, offered originally with the number 1465, where the 5 stands for the Vermeil models. These pens are the utmost embodiment of Montblanc pen manufacturing, their flagship pen in the most refined and unmatched quality a pen can be made in. All of these pens were made solely by hand except some parts of them, nibs and other details were made by hand as well. These were produced in very limited numbers each year, as they were very expensive when they were sold, and not every store had them. They appreciate in value each year, so many collectors see them as an investment. There are several variations of the 1465 model, with Barleycorn pattern, the Godron - Ribbed such as this one, and the same pen in silver with gold plated accents. The 146 is second only to the largest Montblanc pen the 149. The Montblanc 146 Meisterstuck/Masterpiece model has always been one of the flagship Montblanc pens. These pens from the late 90s are considered the best, as they employ all modern and improved features of the pens, such as entirely solid brass piston mechanism.

The pen embodies everything Montblanc stands for, amazing build quality, stunning timeless design, superb reliability and simply fantastic performance and feel in the hand. The 146 has been produced since the early 50s, and had undergone numerous revisions in the materials, filling system, nib and feed design, but never an overall or even significant form-factor change, the size and shape is nearly identical to its original design from 1950s.

This pen here is considered the 4rd generation of the 146 model. Made in mid to late 1990s and even early 2000s, this is one of the most reliable and refined pens until that period, with silicone cork and striped ink window. The pen is extremely heavy, nearly 50gr. it feels solid in the hand, posted or not posted. It shines, difficult to capture in photos. The piston turns completely effortlessly, making a pleasure to fill the pen each time to the top. The black resin grip section feels nice and at home in the hand, does not tire the hand even given the pen's weight. One should only let the pen glide over the paper, i.e. guide the pen rather than write with it.

The nib is amazing, one of the best we've used. It is a large with nice thick B to BB tip producing very nice thick line on the up and down strokes and nice thin lines on the left and right strokes. Performs very smoothly and very precisely with perfect ink flow. There is even some nice flexibility, so once pressed it can write even wider. The pen is in absolute mint condition - used for several occasions only, perfectly preserved, rarely found in such condition, no scratches, no dings or dents, no gold wear off or any cosmetic or functional issues. Comes in its original presentation box the one it was sold in, with instructions and warranty, purchased from authorised Montblanc dealership in Zurich in 2001 - with clip number matching the warranty details. A true Montblanc Masterpiece pen, simply the perfect fountain pen.
