The pen offered here is a very rare type of the famous K400, in fact its predecessor was made in the intermediate time between the production of the 455 model and the later K400 model. This pen has two rings in the middle, but features a resin crown as opposed to the metal ones. Compared to its predecessor the 455, it has a gold plated metal tip on the front for better protection as a slightly thicker body and larger crown. In a way it's a hybrid of the two, featuring the best of both. It is one of the first pens not to bear the W. Germany mark, since it was produced in either 1990 or 1991 just after the reunification of Germany and the fall of the Berlin Wall.

It features the classic black resin body with deep black "candle light reflections". It feels heavy and solid in the hand due to its internal metal parts and metal joints. The form factor is also borrowed from its 450/350 pencil siblings launched in the 50s, and amazingly it still looks modern and nice. Very clean shape where form follows function. It uses the standard international refills, readily available we will include the original one and new one as well. The mechanism is nice and smooth with a nice click sound each time. The pen is in mint near NOS condition with no signs of use, perfectly preserved and functional and comes with its original price tag as found, 150DM Deutsche Marks.
