Condition and information:
The pen offered here is the first series Montblanc 142 Masterpiece (Meisterstuck) pen, rarely offered in such mint condition, never restored, originally preserved. This is the original first production series 142 model, produced 1949-1959, this particular pen was produced around 1951-1953. The build quality is amazing with immense attention to detail but also simplicity in design as "form follows function", and these pens were mostly made by hand by master craftsman. The walls of both the body and cap are very thick, very heavy, with a beautiful translucent orange ink window. The pen features the original amazing telescopic piston system made out solid steel and brass 3 stage/fold piston, quite heavy thus giving the pen the amazing balance and space for bigger ink reservoir. The pen is in mint condition, with minimal signs of use, never restored or repaired, it has all of its original parts. We've fitted a new cork for ensuring smooth operation and great seal. The pen has a very good ink-flow due to the two canal feed-lines on ebonite feeder. Such feed ensures good ink-flow especially needed on such wet pen with full nib flexibility. The nib is a rare amazing OBB size, as they don't make them any more. Its very smooth on the paper and fully flexible which will write OBBB and wider depending on the amount of pressure. This pen will produce the best hand writing one can hope to achieve with a fountain pen. There is so much to do with such a nib. You can flex it when you write or you can slightly rotate it in the hand, which will change how the wide tip is oriented towards the paper, this can produce very thin or ultra thick lines on every stroke. This is what a fountain pen is really all about. There is the proper clear marking on the nib "142", and there are clear imprints on the the turning knob "142" and "OBB" on the other side. The trimmings and the clip unlike the newer models are thick gold filled so gold ware off is impossible. The yellowish ebonite ebonite star has distinct vintage appeal. As the word implies, this is a true Montblanc Masterpiece, the perfect pen in any respect.
