Condition and information:
This is the flagship and probably one of the most rare and beautiful 1960s Montblanc pen sets, especially where they all come together in their original packing as sold at the time. The quality is amazing, materials are best there are. This highly processed plastic unlike other plastics, simply does not crack. It's very thick but also has some elasticity. This tiny elasticity makes it very hard to ding, so even dropping the pens does hardly any damage. The cap on the Fountain Pen and the upper bodies of the Ballpoint and the Mechanical pencil are solid steel, with a thick silver plating and deeply brushed, simply very heavy and meant to last for generations. The silver plating is even applied to the inside of the bodies, meaning the pens cannot rust. It is hard to believe that brushed silver can have such a shine and luster, no matter what light falls on the pens, they reflect it. This brushed silver and plastic also does not leave hand oil thus the pens always stay clean and shiny. The brushed plastic is a nice grey color, and has that very nice vintage appeal. The design of the pens is the best of the 60s and 70s, they still look modern and appealing today, hard to believe these pens were made 60+ years ago. This set model was produces only for approximately 1.5 years, in 1969-1970.

The Fountain pen is features the new at the time slip-on cap for fast deployment and has a very precise fit-on on the body with a distinct "click" sound when closing the cap. Posting the cap gives it a very good writing balance, due to its weight. The nib is a beautiful solid 14K 585 white gold, very sharp true Extra Fine size, very smooth on the paper, simply a perfect writer with but it does not feel stiff or scratch, on the contrary it has a decent softness to it and superb smoothness. Piston is extremely smooth, and takes a considerable amount of ink. There's the nice grey ink window in the middle. The entire front section is easily removable simply by unscrewing it, making this pen a walk in the part to clean and maintain. Mechanical pencil is precise push button click mechanism and perfectly tuned, very heavy as 90% of the pencil is steel even the entire inside mechanism. It comes with original Montblanc 9 leads. The leads are precisely deployed, a perfect drafting pencil. Same goes for the Ballpoint, with the unique lever mechanism, Montblanc patented and also marketed as the "11th finger" system, as the pen will always turn itself off when hanged into a pocket. The ballpoint pen mechanism works perfectly as well and comes with its original Montblanc Giant Refill which is still operational to this date. Due to the brushed surface and heavy upper bodies all pens have a perfect grip, feel right in the hand and make for a very good writing balance. The white Montblanc star is located on all pens, on the FP is located on top of cap and top of the turning knob. The box is a masterpiece itself, hard box genuine leather coated outside and silk on the inside, and also with brushed aluminum frame to match the pens theme, giving it very beautiful appeal. The condition of the ballpoint pen and mechanical pencil is never used NOS (new old stock), while only the cap on the fountain pen has some light scuffs and surface marks, as this was the only pen lightly used from this set. The set comes in its original presentation box, which comes in a original carton box which is marked by the factory of the contents inside. Highest quality, exceptionally rare, unique appeal, flagship Montblanc pens of the 60s.
