A truly gorgeous pencil by Faber Castell, from the first edition Classic Graf von Faber-Castell made in the mid 2000s. This model was made in the mid 2010, and is now discontinued. This is the more rare version of the Anthracite Resin & Platinum Plated , with a deep barleycorn guilloche texture. The metal parts are platinum plated.

Since its founding in 1761 Faber Castell was mainly a pencil manufacturing company, they acquired the famous fountain pen company Osmia in the 1930s. Since then, many fountain pens made by Faber Castell carried the name Faber Castell Osmia for a long time. Not until several decades ago, the name Osmia was phased out and replaced with the full family name Graf von Faber Castell which is only for their top of the line fountain pens and pencil bear.

The pencil is a true masterpiece, envied by many European pen manufacturers. Each pen is made with over one hundred stages, most of which are by hand. The pencil features a very precise and nice twist deployment mechanism, where the top turning knob is rotated clockwise to deploy the lead. It uses 0.7mm leads. The pencil features a spring mounted clip which can extend quite a bit, thus there is no pocket, pouch or bag slot which this pen cannot easily be hung into. The thick platinum plate simply shines, it is difficult to capture in photos.

The pencil is used but in good condition, there are some minor scruff and micro scratches, but barely visible to the naked eye. The pencil also features a discrete MK personalization engraving on the top of the crown. It comes in its original box and papers. Wonderful and reliable writing instrument to be enjoyed daily.
