The Waterman name is one of the most recognizable names in fine luxury pens. The Lauréat was one of Waterman’s finest pens of the late 1980s. A masterpiece at first sight. The pen is heavy and an oversize pen at 170mm when posted, which gives it a great feel in the hand and perfect writing balance. The pen balances well with the cap posted or set aside. The pen is very smooth on the paper, does not skip, and it is a constant writer. The letter "W" is clearly engraved at the clip of the pen and the words "WATERMAN MADE IN FRANCE" are engraved around the gold plated cap band/ring. The pen's nib is steel, very smooth on the paper with precise F fine size. The nib is also clearly engraved "WATERMAN FRANCE F". The pen can take standard international cartridges or you can simply fill it from a bottle of ink with the piston converter which is included with the pen. You will be impressed with the performance of the Waterman’s nibs; when inked, you can write with it for a bit while, cap it, and then set it aside for a long time. When you pick it up and begin to write, it starts wet every time. There are not many pens that you can store that long and stay “wet”. The pen has an amazing look, black with with deep red with gold accents, and glassy lacquer finish. This Waterman pen is designed to give the owner a feel of luxury and elegance. The pen is in absolute mint condition, with no scratches at all.
