The Waterman Liaison is a massive, oversize, stunning pen made to get the attention and be seen. The Liaison was launched to replace the LeMan series in the mid 1990s, and it was produced only for coupe of years, hence they are very rare today. It was Watermans top of the line flagship pen in the 1990s. The pen is second to none in both appearance and craftsmanship and it is considered by many as one of the best modern Waterman pens. Its unique design feature is that the middle "grip section" is missing, i.e. the barrel is the grip section which ends with the tip of the pen. This is also the case with the fountain pen version. This design makes the pen feel as a elongated monoform, sort of a pencil. Also the black blind cap on the top of the pen is rotating, and the user can unscrew the front section simply by turning the blind cap. The front section of this pen and a fountain pen version of it are interchangeable. The pen features a pure and harmonious design, with uniquely rich appearance with its stunning 23K gold plated trimmings. The ebonite woodgrain finish pays homage to those old Waterman Ideal Ripple pens made in USA. This pen has that amazing vintage appeal to it, crowned with a unique hexagon insert on top of the cap. There's that very nice distinct "click" when opening or closing the cap, super precise. The cap can be posted, but since this is such a heavy pen it is not necessary. This is very large pen, oversize, very thick at the section and mid point at full 14mm and extremely heavy, nearly 50 gr. Even putting it on the desk makes a loud sound.
