Offered here is a never used, in its original box and with oritinal papers, the Classic No. 221. The new Montblanc model in the early 70s, which was build up on the 22/24 models to employ the slip on cap for fast deployment (no tread) and build up on the superbly performing previous models. This pen was produced in the early 70s and it has few variations, such as cartridge and this piston model, also there was a model with a different front section. This is the original 221 model, also called the classic, it is one of the biggest pens produced at the time at full 135mm in length. The pen has extraordinary build quality, all made out of highest grade black resin, and metal trimmings placed on most exposed parts to protect the pen, such as the gold ring on the top of the cap, body mid section ring and special two ring cap for crack protection. The cap is a perfect fit on the body, with a distinct "click" sound when closing/opening. The Precious Black Resin, the signature material of Montblanc, is a specially tempered plastic which gives the pen a unique shine and gloss but also a tough protection, as this material is hard to scratch or damage. With one wipe of the sleeve a pen made out of black resin with shine like new and reflects any light that falls on it. The pen has a very intricate feed system, very reliable with a constant and even ink flow. The nib is smooth a true, precise, sharp non-scratchy EF extra fine size, with a constant line and non-messy flow, meaning its perfect for notebook keeping, small letters writing, simply a joyful pen. Yellow O ring rubber seal under the turning knob, it just look fantastic. The entire front section is removable simply by unscrewing it, making it easy to clean and maintain the pen. The pen is in new condition, NOS new old stock, never restored, originally preserved. One of the best and most reliable Montblanc pens of the 70's, a true masterpiece.
