Offered here is the amazing original Fisher Space Pen, with its original revolutionary pressurized refill. We all know the story about the high cost of development of this pen in the 1960s, while "the Russians just used a pencil". This is actually a myth as even though a pencil can be used in space, the graphite particles that don't stick to the paper would not make astronauts very happy.

Hence Fisher developed a revolutionary technology where the ink inside the refill is pressurized from the point of the top end of the refill to its tip, and always in that direction. This meant that no matter the 0G, the ink would always be "pushed" towards the tip. This required several new technologies, including a special kind of ink, as well as a special tip which would not let the ink out when not in use.

The pen itself is also amazing with emphasis placed on durability made by chromed steel and solid brass parts inside, very heavy and with great ergonomics. It is close to 30gr. heavy which is comparable to many decently sized fountain pens. The mechanism is very smooth and precise push button for ON, and a very conveniently placed side button for OFF.

Unlike regular ballpoint pen refills, these Fisher pressurized refills require much less pressure when writing, and will even write on some non-paper surfaces, as the ball tip has much less resistance to start rotating inside its refill tip enclosure, the writing is much smoother comparable to a rollerball pen. The ball tip is made out of "Extremely Hard Wolfram-carbide". The pen sits nicely in the hand, and the grip is superb due to its finely radially knurled grip section.

The pen comes in NOS condition in its original box and paper insert in German, as these were made in the USA for the German market.
