Condition and information:
The Pilot company first launched the Elite S model in 1968 and it instantly became one of their most popular models at the time. Pen here is the second generation of this model which was introduced in 1975 mirroring the vintage vibe pens had in that era.
The pen is crafted in high-quality shiny resin plastic which not only gives great appeal to the pen but it also protects it physically since it is more crack and scratch-resistant than other materials. The gold plated trimmings give the pen a more elegant look and complement the design as a whole.
The clip features a nice crisp engraving with the Pilot branding name. The grip section features a somewhat faded inscription that reads “ Bridgestone”.
Its compact physique makes it a great pen for traveling and you can use it every day everywhere you are fitting in any pocket of a jacket. This is a great feature because you get to have a pen that is suitable to be carried around and can fit almost anywhere weighing only 15gr. but at the same time when the cap is posted, it gives the pen a full length of an oversized fountain pen.
The pen is fitted with a very nice, fine size, 18K 750 gold nib which features fine engravings that read “Pilot”, “18K”, “750” and “F”. The nib is a good writer, very reliable, producing a constant fine line, it could produce a variety of line width with some pressure applied while writing. The pen’s good build quality and materials contribute for the perfect writing experience as the pen simply glides over the paper, making writing feel easy. The pen feels comfortable in the hand and has a quality feel to it. The lightweight construction contributes for tireless long writing sessions without hand fatigue.
It can be used with cartridges or a converter. The original Pilot press converter is included enabling easy filling directly from an ink bottle. The converter is very convenient and easy to use and it can carry a substantial amount of ink for long writing sessions without worries.
This is a truly amazing fountain pen with great build qualities and design that can only be found in this kind of unique vintage pens.
The pen comes in mint condition with some visible signs of use perfectly operational and ready to be used.
