Condition and information:
One of the rarest 1950s Montblanc pens made by the Montblanc Factory in Denmark, the model 212. Montblanc had a plant in Denmark since 1914 that produced the same instruments made in Germany, but also other models that were made in Denmark only, such as this one. These are now one of the most collectible Montblanc pens as they were produced in much smaller numbers for short periods of time but also with superb quality. The plant was run by Mr. Alfred Oberg and Montblanc even kept it secret from 1933 till 1964 that they produced any pens in Denmark. Shortly after WWII, the production of Montblanc pens in Denmark spiked and resulted with most of the Montblanc pens made in the late 40's and very early 50's being made in Denmark; one of the reasons is probably due to the post war restrictions on Germany's production and imports, such as the import of precious metals. This model was produced very briefly as most of the Denmark models were, (they were only produced in a duration of 1-2 years). This pen is one of the classic pens of the Denmark production, with a recognizable unique torpedo form factor and unique lever mounted clip. The pen form factor is perfect, a truly stunning elegant looks and feel. Its almost impossible to believe that this pen was designed more then 70 years ago.

This model was produced very briefly as most of the Denmark models were, (they were only produced in a duration of 1-2 years). This pen is featured in number of Montblanc books and catalogs due to its reliability, features and design. The pen is in absolute mint condition, minimal signs of use, nearly impossible to find in this shape, no scratches, no dings, no chips, no cracks, no bite marks, no gold ware off, perfect condition. The pen is one of the rare Montblanc push buttons with bladder/sac. These are such and easy to maintain pens, that everybody can open it, clean and even replace the sac. The sac had been replaced so it will work like a charm for decades if taken care of properly. The push bar is very responsive and precise, fills the pen to its optimum capacity. The nib is amazing, size 2 by old Montblanc scale, fully flexible nib which simply melts on the paper, a true joy to write with, feels almost as a paint brush. This nib will produce all bigger/thicker line size with little to no pressure, up to BBB on down strokes and other lines depending on the way its held and used. It is smooth, does not scratch and its suspended on an ebonite feed with great ink flow. The feed is a low profile "ski-slope" shape, which allows a very low angle writing but also a great viewing space. Wonderful shiny crisp black color and crisp imprints, no discoloration. The Denmark models are becoming one of the most sought after Montblanc pens, and are truly one of the best Montblanc pens ever made. Nothing compares to these old Montblanc pens, they embody everything a fountain should be and how it should preform, a pure writing joy.
