The Shanghai Hero Pen Company, probably the best Chinese pen company and its outstanding fountain pens. Founded in 1931 as the Huafu Pen Factory, it was renamed in 1966 to the current name. By the 1990s, the company's Hero brand of fountain pen had earned a high reputation among Chinese, and had come to be known as the best in the country.

The pen featured here is one HERO's rarest, high quality pens, made from aluminum and black resin. The form factor of the pen strongly resembles the Kaweco Sport line, which was the first company to introduce this form factor in the late 1930's. This design was also featured on the Pilot Elite pens. The design unique feature is the elongated cap which extends and encloses the body of the pen to approximately 2/3 of the pens length. This makes the pen very compact when closed ideal for keeping the pen in any size pocket or purse, but when the cap is removed and posted on the pen, the pen becomes nearly a full length pen with all properties of a standard size pen, i.e. it has a necessary balance and right feel in the hand, not feeling as a small pen. The beautifully designed body is made out of aluminum with a silver metallic color and a shiny black resin front section. The letter H in silver color stands dignified on the black cap of the pen. HERO is engraved at the clip of the pen. The nib of the pen is solid 12k gold, with precise EF Extra fine size, non-scratchy, very smooth on the paper and a perfect precise writer. "HERO 12K" is engraved on the face of the nib. There is a golden arrow embodied in the front grip section which gives the pen an amazing looks and also provides as a sort of a guiding pointer when writing. The pen comes with its original bladder filling system. The pen is in a mint condition, NOS new old stock, never used. An astonishing writing instrument, easily matching by both design and quality any of the major Western pen companies.
