A rare highest quality pen by Quill USA. Quill Pens was founded in Rhode Island in 1945. This pen was manufactured at the peak of the company’s operations, early to mid 1980s. The company made every effort to revive US production of high quality fountain pens and did not save any money on materials or build quality. Unfortunately the company closed down few years ago, but they left behind an amazing legacy of fine writing instruments made in US. The pen is a true generational pen, simple in design and form factor, but made out of the highest quality materials, meant to last for decades. Solid steel base overlaid with thick gold fill, 1/10th. Unlike gold plate, gold filled pens never lose this layer. The pen is long and heavy. At 137mm and 150mm posted it makes for a larger than standard size fountain pens. Together with its weight this provides for a great grip and feel in the hand. The pen uses a standard international size cartridges, thus very ease to refill and use. It can also be used with a piston converter which is included. The 18k gold nib is a medium size, very smooth on the paper, very clean writer with no excess ink, so it's great for study lines that are thick and solid. Gorgeous leaf shaped clip give the pen. The pen is in NOS never used condition, comes in its original handmade oak wood box with lifetime guarantee and instructions.
