• Condition and information:
Conceived and made in the peak of the Cold War, it is hard to believe such Bauhaus inspired pen designs were even remotely possible. Lamy was, and no doubt about it is, the Apple of the pen design. After the success of the 2000 series, which was decades ahead of its time, conceived in mid 1960s, several years later Lamy introduced the P25, a more affordable pen with steel nib, intended for the students, but made using the same materials, the famous Makrolon plastic. The "P" stands for Patronen, i.e. cartridges in English. And this was done by many pen manufacturers at the time, appealing to the student class, of an easy and convenient to use fountain pen. Looking at these pens even today, they don't look vintage or outdated, on the contrary rather, they look modern and timeless. With this design principle Lamy won the hearts of many enthusiasts throughout the world, made writing instrument of the modern era which did not seek to be a status symbol but simply an honest, high-precision tool for writing, where the design and form follow the function.

The set here, uses exactly the same materials, construction techniques and precision as the Lamy 2000. The fountain pen is a standard international cartridge filling pen, not the later Lamy cartridges, so its easy to fill and use. It can be also used with a converter. It is fitted with F Fine size (F marked on the section), steel nib, which is smooth on the paper and will write without skipping. The feed is ebonite, unlike later plastic feeds, so it will always provide the nib with good ink-flow. The pen body is made out of deeply brushed aluminum. Some claim it is actually steel, but we believe it is rather light to be steel. The pen is only 13gr. heavy without a cartridge or converter inside. And keeping in mind that there is a plastic insert inside the barrel, over which the metal barrel is placed, it has to be aluminum. Even though light, the pen feels right in the hand, easy and smooth to write, does not tire and its well balanced to write posted or not posted. The section is easily removable, and it can be disassembled further by unscrewing the mid joint (not shown in the photos). This will allow easy access to the feed inside, which has to be pushed upwards and it comes out as one unit with the nib, making it easy to clean and maintain.

The ballpoint pen is made out o the same materials, the upper body is made out of the fiberglass known as Makrolon, in a fabulous black color matt brushed. This material is very thick, ~1mm on both the fountain pen's cap and upper body of the ballpoint. The ballpoint is push button, very precise and responsive, with a nice "click" sound action. "P25 & 225 W. Germany" is engraved on both pens. It has and easily replaceable Lamy M16 giant ballpoint refill still available today, however the refill is perfectly usable with its original refill. The set comes in near NOS mint condition, never used, only stored, and in its original presentation box. Perfect, reliable and timeless wiring instruments.
