Condition and information:
This is one of the best Senator pens of the 70's. This pen stands second to none, it is a super high-quality pen by any standard. The pen is made out of special, thick black resin with extreme strength, almost impossible to crack, scratch or damage. This material was used on many Pelikan, Waterman, Parker, Montblanc and other pens as well, but Senator has even taken this material to the next level. The cap is made out of stainless steel, matte finished which gives the pen a great looks and reflection. The pen features a hooded 14K nib, EF extra fine size with constant line writing, very precise and non-messy nib. Such nibs are great for writing in notebooks, notepads, where small writing typeface is used. It has a super smooth piston with a double silicone cork which makes it impossible to leak. The pen is slightly oversize then a typical pen, nearly 140mm closed and more then 150 posted. This provides for a very large ink reservoir, and since the pen is precise EF with fine line, one piston filling can last for more then a month. The writing balance and feel in the hand are perfect, especially when the pen is posted due to the weight of the cap. The pen is in absolute NOS new old stock condition, never used. Senator was known as the Merz and Krell company. The famous Merz & Krell Pen Company was manufacturing parts for many pen companies including Montblanc, Pelikan, Reform and others. This company even manufactured entire pen lines for Pelikan such as the 120 model type II and the rare 400NN Merz & Krell model. This company had many brands under its name, including Senator, Diplomat, the famous Melbi and others. Senator was their main brand in the 60's and early 70's.
