The M30 rolled gold line series are very reliable and are a class up from the MK10/ MK20 lines, these were considered one of the best at the time, made out of more refined materials such as the black resin and also featured a solid gold nib. (Some of these pens in the 60-70s bore PK30 insignia on the rings, but those were made for export only, and are identical to these pens).
The pen is stunning, both in look, appeal and quality. Crafted in black resin which not only gives great shine but also protects the pen from scratches making it always shine like new. The contrasting combination of shiny cast black resin and rolled gold parts give the pen an elegant style and great appeal.
The cap and trims of the pen are covered in thick rolled gold which unlike the gold plate doesn’t wear off that easily. The cap of the pen features nice crisp engravings that read “Pelikan 30”, “Rolled Gold” and “ Germany” and it is decorated with fine guilloche lines. The Pelican company logo stands proudly inlaid on the top.

The pen is fitted with a solid 14K gold, semi-flexible EF size nib, meant to be used for many writing styles. Depending on the pressure you apply it can write ticker on thinner lines. Due to its semiflexibility, it will write F fine and M medium size line width. 
The piston is one of the best piston systems invented by Pelikan, very smooth and responsive. The pen features a beautiful clear see-through purple-blue ink window which is an excellent feature indicating ink capacity.
This is one of the most reliable and elegant Pelikan pens, extremely well build, meant to last and endure hard work for years. 
All in all, one of the best Pelikan pens of this era.
