The vintage 1950’s Sheaffer Snorkel “Crest” pens were used as an inspiration for the modern Sheaffer Crest. From 1938 to 1959 the Sheaffer Pen company used to refer to all pens that had gold-filled caps and plastic barrels as “Crest”. The first version of the modern Sheaffer Crest line was shown in a UK catalogue in 1989 but the pens never came to the Sheaffer price list due to the inability to recreate and keep the same quality of the original Snorkel pens.
The new modern and improved Crest line was introduced in 1992 and several models like: 590 Gold Plated Classic pen, 593 Black/Gold Plated Classic pen, 592 Red/Gold Plated Classic pen and 591 Black Laque Classic pen were offered. All the models from the line were offered as fountain and ballpoint pens.
Pen here is a 591 ballpoint pen crafted in Crest balck lacquer which is created by more than twenty-three layers.

The pen has a 23 karat gold electroplated cap band that reads “Sheaffer”, "U.S.A." and “Gold Electroplate”. The pen features an elegant clip which is also 23K gold electroplated and it has the White Sheaffer Dot inlaid at the top.
The pen is retractable and uses a very responsive twist mechanism which is convenient and easy to use.

The pen feels comfortable in the hand and glides over the paper effortlessly providing for the perfect writing experience.
It is a great writer with a good balance and feel in the hand. It has an amazing form factor, following an elegant silhouette, very pleasant to write with.
The pen uses Sheaffer ballpoint refills and we include the original one in blue color which is still writing.
