Condition and information:

Launched in 1997, the Celebry line was Pelikan's try to appeal to the wider public with more modern fountain pen design. The decade leading up to the 1990s were probably some of the most difficult time for the fountain pen manufacturers. What the ballpoint pen didn't destroy from the fountain pen market, forgot it and left it behand to die slowly, now it was left hopelessly exposed and to the mercy of the era of the computers to end the fountain pen forever. Fortunately and still difficult to understand why, that didn't happen, on the contrary, as the computers entered our lives, it made easier for people to share this passion and fountain pens returned again on a big door.

However the Celebry line is here to remind us of how it use to be 20 something years ago. It was a complete departure from traditional Pelikan form follows function design, but yet, there is something amazing about these pens we cannot put our finger on. The Celebry seems extremely refined, sturdy, heavy, fits in the hand correctly, feels nice and solid, its a pen that will make the user know they are using something special. The Celebry is a very heavy pen, crafted entirely out of metal, except for the inner cap sleeve, there is no other plastic on it. They came in several variations, the pens offered here are called the Agate Black (P580) or as we like to call them more descriptively, a Black Marble pattern, layered over the metal base with a nice thick lacquer finish. What is not lacquer finished is thick gold plate, probably a 23K gold plating. The grip section is matte finished gold plate which feels nice in the grip of the fingers. The fountain pen is extremely simple to use, just stick in a cartridge and its ready to write immediately, a piston converter too to fill it easily from a bottle of ink. Extremely easy to clean and maintain, just open it up and use tap water to flush it, and even the feed-nib section is super easy to remove, one just needs to pull them out. Since the feed has a vertical cut-out that aligns with a notch into the section, its extremely easy to put them back in place as they will self align. The best about this pen and to our surprise is the nice, soft, a joy to write with fully flexible nib. It's solid 14k gold, and will produce a wider lines with the gentlest push while writing. We've managed to get up to 1.5mm thick line, double broad and it could get even wider. It is a wet nib, always starts easily and will write with ease even at a very fast pace. This depends on the ink too, but generally any standard Pelikan 4001 ink will run nicely.

The FP is accompanied by its K580 Ballpoint pen K standing for Kugelschrieber (Ballpoint) which also feels nice and heavy, and with a nice refill it will glide on the paper. The pen features a twist on-off mechanism easy to use and very reliable. It uses a standard G2 refills, the original one the pen came with made in Germany, as well as a new one we will include with the pen.

The set comes in its original box, together with its warranty. The set is in mint condition with minimal signs of use, no scratches or dings, only some minor sings of use and storage. A truly unique and durable everyday workhorse pens that will last for generations.
