The German Matador pen company made pens from the early 1900s starting with some amazing safety pens, all the way to the 1970s. We believe the company was located in the west Germany but why they stopped making pens is still a mystery. One thing is clear though, their legacy is some of the biggest in the fountain pen world. The pens made by Matador are some of the best crafted pens ever, every detail is meticulously crafted, everything had to be unique. Even though they were among lesser known pen companies at the time, Matador was one of the vanguards of the pen innovation and design. They made some of the most amazing pens with superb design and unmatched quality, in many ways better than the mainstream pen companies at the time.

Offered here is a very unique pen, and unfortunately one of the last the Matador company has made, the Matador "Click 120". There were several variations of the "Click" line by Matador, baring different model numbers and subnames, depending on the pen's size and its nib type. The Click line was one of the last mass produced lines the Matador company made before it ceased to exist. This pen was launched in mid to late 1950s, and was a direct response to the Pelikan models 120 and 140 launched in early and mid 1950s. This pen however its a unique pen with unique features, bold, daring and progressive as only Matador could make. The pen features a very rare at the time, precise slip-on cap as opposed to most of the pens at the time which had a thread-on cap. The manufacturing precision required to make such a cap fit over the nib perfectly and seal it from leaks, is enormous. The opening and closing of the cap makes a distinct "Click" sound, which certainly is where the name of the pen is derived from. It also features a rarely seen on such pens ergonomic front grip section, where the section is not simply cylindrical, it is rather slightly triangularly shaped making it more pleasing to grip with the fingers. It also features a 3x piston seal cork, as opposed to the single or double seal rings on most of other pens. Unlike Pelikan 120, this Matador 120 features a superb 14K flexible EF nib.
It is very soft, pleasant and flexible nib which will write in the best way pen could write, fine thin lines when gliding on the paper with no pressure, up to double broad with little pressure and even wider. The pen is made out of black resin, one of the best materials to make pens from, feels natural in the hand and always shines. The pen is mint condition with minimal to no signs of use, no scratches or cracks. Extremely well built pen by an extraordinary pen company, a truly rare specimen with beautiful design, worth any collection and a true joy for daily use!
