Condition and information:

Offered here is a very rare pencil model by Montblanc, the 222, conceived in the mid 1950s and produced, by some sources up to the late 1970s. This is not difficult to imagine as the pencil looks modern and sleek even today. This pencil was made in the transition style period before the 1960s form factors which had more sharp edges. This one draws the design from earlier models from the 1930-40s, however it is very modern even with its torpedo shape. It is simple, elegant and powerful. The form ends in a simple curve-top with the Montblanc logo seamlessly integrated on the top, a piece of art pencil on its own. The pencil is made out of thick celluloid as opposed to the later black resin pens and pencils that succeeded this one, i.e. the 2X models. It is a twist mechanism with a long spiral and pin, so it will deploy the leads quite nicely and easily. The entire mechanism is steel, hence its heavy and feels nice in the hand. The knurled section makes for a perfect grip. The lead size is 0.9mm, not too thick and not too thin, perfect for any kind of drawing. The clip is a rare spring based clip with a lot of extension, nearly 1cm travel, hence it will fit over any pocket fabric or notebook. All trimmings are thick gold filled as opposed to gold plated so gold wear off is very unlikely. This seems to be a special order pencil, made for the famous Danish B&W (Burmeister & Wain) shipyard and large diesel ship engines factory, now part of MAN AG. There is the B&W imprint on the pencil, as well as the dedicated box it comes with. Its likely that the B7W imprint and the box were both made at the factory or at licensed reseller that had the knowhow to make the imprints and box. The pencil comes in NOS, never used condition, perfect working and cosmetic condition ready to be used.
