Offered here is a very rare, special Lalex pen from the 1960s. Made by the old famous company Lalex, this is not the new reincarnated Lalex brand. This company was famous for its delicate guilloche patterns, which rivaled some of the best brands at the time, such as Fend. Some Italian brands even used Lalex services to decorate their special edition pens. This pen features full body and cap thick 18K gold filled, engraved with a gorgeous honeycomb and checkerboard pattern. Difficult to capture in photos, the pen looks stunning with beautiful reflections. It is marked “laminato oro” which stands for gold filled. Unlike gold plate, gold filling technique is applying much thicker gold, thus gold ware off is very unlikely. This Lalax pen was a response to Parker’s popular 51 model and Aurora’s 88k. The design is the familiar “torpedo” shape form factor with an amazing feel and performance. Due to the weight, the pen feel balanced and right in the hand, posted or not posted. When uncapped the blue tinted ink window is exposed, making it easy to read the ink lever. The front section is made out of black resin, giving the pen additional shine and protection, as well as decorated with a golden arrow. Probably the best part is the easily removable front section, which simply unscrews to expose all the parts of the nib unit as well as the inside of the barrel. This makes cleaning and maintaining this pen a true joy and ease. The nib is made from 14k 585 gold with an ebonite feed for great ink flow. The nib is also nearly entirely enclosed within the front grip which helps prevent damage to the nib if the pen is dropped. A super precise piston mechanism, an usual feature for this form factor is a part of the pen. Lalex was founded in Naples in 1938 (hence why the company is often referred to as Lalex 1938) by Leopoldo Tullio Aquilla, who has become a name synonymous with high quality pens. Founded on the principles of technical craftsmanship with a classic design. The pen is absolutely amazing and is great for daily use. It is in NOS condition never used.
