It is considered that the Parker Rialto 88 model was inspired by the French square Place Vendôme paying tribute to the beauties that contemporary European design had. The actual year when this model was produced is 1987 but the company decided that they liked how “88” sounds so they decided to go with 1988 as the official year of production. At first the model was offered in Matte, Plated and Lacquer finishes with sections in color with matching barrel ends. Later, in 1992 the model was redesigned and the 22K gold trims and colored sections were replaced with 23K gold and sections in black color.
In 1994 the “88” model was discontinued and the model stayed in production under the name “Rialto” only now instead with the French Place Vendôme it was associated with the Italian Rialto district in Venice.
The line was redesigned although the main features remained the same, the only distinction between the old and redesigned model was the plain and now designed nib, and the new model didn’t have a “Rialto” engraving on it and it offered many different finishes of fountain and ballpoint pens.

Pen offered here is a ballpoint Rialto model crafted in 23K gold plated body with fluted design and black trimmings and grip section.
The midsection ring of the pen features nice crisp engravings that read “Parker” , “Rialto” and “Made in UK”.
The Parker company uses date codes to mark their writing instruments. This pen, in particular, has an IIIT date code engraved on it which means that it dates back from the first quarter of 1995. The clip of the pen is shaped in the company’s recognizable trademark, the Parker arrow.

The slip on/off cap produces a nice click sound, it posts very nicely giving the pen longer length and balance.
The pen uses Parker ballpoint refills and the original one in blue color is included which may be depleted soon but it can be used for future purchase reference.
It is a good writer producing a constant nice line without skipping. It is very well balanced with a good grip and feel in the hand.
This pen is a great choice for long writing everyday sessions with no hand fatigue.

The pen comes in mint condition with no gold wear off and personal engravings.
