Listed here is the Pelikan 450 mechanical pencil which represents an unmatched high quality, ergonomically built writing instrument with great performance even by today's standards.
The pencil is crafted in tortoise green celluloid with striped pattern and thick gold trims, these high quality materials are a sign of the lengths the Pelikan company went in order to create the perfect writing instruments which is a commitment that is rare to see these days. This is the thicker model which is bigger in diameter in comparison to the later 450 model. You can see the comparison in size of the two 450 models on the last photo of this listing.
The central ring on the midsection features nice crisp engravings that read “Pelikan 450” and Germany.
The pencil features a nice "PELIKAN 450 GUNTHER WAGNER GERMANY" imprint on the top right under the clip's rings which is put there in honor of the founder of the company and it is an imprint which is rarely seen on these pencils.

The good build quality of the pencil and the tough mechanical brass components contribute for the substantial weight and perfect balance of the pencil.
The pencil uses 1.18 leads, and it has a precision push button solid brass mechanism. Several leads are included with the pencil. With such thick lead refills the refill can be deployed 3-5mm out from the tip, which contributes to great precision, prevents breakage of the leads and offers a clear page view.
A rarely known feature of these pencils is the visual cue the pencil provides when it has a lead inside the tip or when it doesn't, i.e. is it ready to write or not without even touching it or pressing the push button. When there's a lead in the tip, the push button on the top of the pencil stays just a bit retracted inside the body, as the front tip of the pen stays extruded just a slight bit in front of the cone shaped brass tip. If there is no lead stick in the front tip; then that part retracts completely inside the front brass tip and the push button extrudes back with it and comes to its normal position. This is just one of the examples of how far engineers went in order to improve and perfect the writing instruments in the past.
With a great feel in the hand, and good balance this pencil provides for the best writing experience. Beautiful pencil and a mechanical masterpiece!

The pencil comes in mint condition, with minimal to no signs of use, perfectly operational and ready to be used.
