Listed here is a 500NN fountain pen which is one of the high-end improved flagship 500 models that the Pelikan company produced after their successful 400  model. There were very few of these pens made, and especially these early versions with a "Double' L" mark, meaning rolled gold over brass. The NN series pens feature a more torpedo streamlined shape than their 400 ancestors.
This was the Pelikan flagship pen for years, all luxurious models were based on this model. It features a celluloid high gloss see-through barrel with a unique pattern that can only be created in this kind of celluloid pens with beautiful amber yellow and brown shades. The rolled gold cap is decorated with beautiful groups of vertical guilloche lines which are giving a nice elegant touch to it. The backside of the gold-filled clip features nice crisp engravings that read “NN” and “F”.
The tassie of the pen is designed in a crown-like shape with a black insert. The pen is engraved with "Gunther Wagner Pelikan" the proud signature of the company's founder found on such early Pelikan pens.

The pen has a perfect form factor and balance, it simply feels right in the hand. Posting the cap provides for that perfect Pelikan balance due to the cap's substantial weight making it an oversize pen at 146mm. This is a very thick pen, the size and form factor on the grip section are still the basis of today's Pelikan pens.
The pen is fitted with a flexible F ( fine) size solid 14K 585 gold nib. It is smooth as a paintbrush simply melting on the paper. The nib is finely engraved with the company branding name, logo, “14C 585” and the nib size. It will produce line width variations, from M medium to a double B on the down and side strokes. This will produce amazing writing, the best one could hope to achieve with a fountain pen. The nib is huge and it is suspended on an elongated original ebonite feed, which provides for perfect ink flow and consistency.

Besides the curvy conical form of the filling knob this pen still uses the tried and tested piston filler mechanism as the 100 and 400 models. This is a smooth piston that can take a considerable amount of ink due to the silicone cork which replaced the original corks from the late 1940's onward. When filled the ink in the pen can last for a whole month of normal everyday use.
The pen comes in its original genuine leather pouch.
