One of the most beautiful and reliable Pelikan pens of the mid 60s the original Rolled Gold line. Because of the more refined materials that the M30 rolled gold line has, it is considered to be a class up from the MK10/ MK20 lines. When this pen was launched in the 60's, it was a radical change in design, similar to Montblanc's Noblesse series.
The body of the pen is crafted in the recognizable black shiny resin and a cap in rolled 14K gold. The cap features crisp imprints that read “Pelikan 30”, “Rolled Gold” and “Germany”. As opposed to gold plate the rolled gold is much thicker and won’t wear off, it is built to last.
This model is the perfect combination of smart engineering, quality materials and appealing design.
The pen features a beautiful purple see through window and it is decorated with the recognizable Pelican logo on top of the cap.

The pen is fitted with a rare 14K gold D size nib, where D stands for "Dokumentieren". The D sized nibs are very stiff and were used for writing several carbon copies at once. These kind of nibs haven't been manufactured for decades now and unlike standard nibs they were made in only a couple of sizes DEF or DF, D Extra Fine or D Fine, because there was no point in making stiff nibs in many sizes. The standard nibs and D nibs defer in the thickness which allows the user to make several copies at once without worrying that the nib will bend or that the tines will split. The difference in the thickness is really stunning and you can see it for yourselves on the last pictures where we have presented two Pelikan pens with a regular and a D size nib.

The fountain pen uses a so-called "Airplane safe" piston. These piston fillers were the recognition of the advancement that the Pelikan company had made in the field of technology at the time. They were given that name because they were made to always keep the ink in place and for the user to be able to use the pen at different pressure variations such as on planes.
The pen is well balanced with perfect grip and feel in the hand.
It would produce a fine constant line when making a carbon copy since the size of the nib is an EF size, but then again it is so sturdy that even if the pen is dropped face on the nib it is unlikely that the nib will be bent or damaged.

The pen is in near NOS mint condition, ready to be used.
