Condition and information:
These pens were launched in the peak of the 1960's sort of over-crowded fountain pen market in Europe. Unlike in US, where the market was dominated by handful of companies, in Europe there were dozens upon dozens of companies, each fighting for a market share, but surprisingly each more or less successful. Amazingly, nearly all of them are still here today, which is simply amazing. In this period after the War, 50s and 60's, life got back to normal, more people were taking to school and university then ever, and the biggest market share was actually a mid class pens, not too cheap, well made, but not too expensive. Everyone's focus was this sector, Pelikan with , 120, MK line and most of its models, Montblanc with most of its models and Monte Rosa, and pretty much every other company. The pens here are Faber Castell's presence to that market. Embedding everything this company knows about pens, being probably the oldest pen company in the world, dating to the 17th century. This is a unique set in a unique rarely seen genuine genuine leather pouch in matching black and brown color. The set consists of the 77S model, a beautiful torpedo shaped pen, and a matching KS03 ballpoint pen. They are made with the highest attention to detail, to rival and surpass the competition. Both pens have glossy and smooth bodies, made from plastic resin, which unlike unprocessed plastic, always luster and shines, it is also more difficult to scratch, so the they don't show micro-scratches over time. All trimmings are thick gold plate that wont ware off. The fountain pen has a unique mid section brass tread, which is much more endurable and gives it a nice touch. The fountain pen has a unique steel gold plated nib, but surprisingly its a semi-flexible nib. Its rated to M, but by our measurements its closer to F, and it will produce any writing up to double broad with little to no pressure. Needless to say, both pens feature a unique classic design, great ergonomics and balance, so the writing is smooth, effortless and does not tire the hand. Piston takes good amount of ink and can be used for a long time once its filled. Silicone cork ensures no ink leakage. There are number of transparent ink windows around the barrel, that will clearly represent the ink level. The ballpoint has a high quality build as well. It has a good grip and balance. It features a heavy brass mid section (not shown in the photos), which provides for the weight thus good balance to the pen. Both of the pens are near NOS, new old stock condition, never used. Both pens have a discrete inscription on the side "Samson".
