Offered here is a masterpiece by Sailor, the 1911 Large model. It was introduced in 2011 to commemorate 100th year anniversary of the company founding. The pen here was made in 2015/2016. The 1911 Large is an imposing large pen, it is over 140mm closed and its also a very thick pen, over 15mm diameter at the caps ring/band. The craftsmanship and materials used are second to none, to rival any of the other major brands of the world, but still much more affordable than its European counterparts, such as the Montblanc 146 in which class and size this pen falls. Its made out of super shiny resin, PMMA, and all of the trims are rhodium plated. Its heavy and it feels solid in the hand, the very thick section provides good relaxed grip which does not tire the hand. The pen comes with its original piston converter, which is convenient and easy to use, it can also take standard or double size ink cartridges. In addition to the thick resin both on the cap and body, there is the metal threaded shaft that joins the section with the barrel, providing additional weight, so the pen feels solid in the hand both posted or not. The best part of Sailor pens is always their nibs, some of the best nibs in the world. The nib is large over 30mm long! It is marked H-EF on its side. In the past H stood for "Hard", however these days it's more of a Regular nib marking to distinguish from Sailor's N nib, or custom crafted nibs by Mr. Yukio Nagahara, master nib craftsman. The nib is actually quite soft and has a decent flex. Since 21K nibs are more on the soft side, as well the tiny super sharp EF nib and the long tines, gives the nib a nice flex. Hence it will write even B broad if pressed gently while writing. Even though needle sharp EF point at the end, it does not scratch and feels smooth on the paper. Overall, a superb writing experience and feel. The pen comes in its original box with papers. It is in near NOS condition, used only couple of times, not a scratch on it.
