Great high-quality vintage fountain and mechanical pencil set made by Pilot, the largest pen manufacturing company in Japan. Pens offered here are a later Pilot Birdie model which differentiates from the earlier model which had a brushed stainless steel body & ribbed section instead of a circular pattern. The pens are crafted in high quality thick gray and silver color plastic with metal parts which together create sturdy and reliable pens. The front part of the barrels features inscriptions that read “Birdie Sweet Flower” and “Pilot 2020 Japan”.

The fountain pen has great performance smoothly gliding on the paper. It is fitted with a precise F fine size steel nib with constant ink flow. The nib features crisp engravings with the Pilot branding name and the size of the nib. The pen uses an original Pilot press converter which is very convenient to use providing for easy and clean filling. It can take a substantial amount of ink for long writing sessions with no worries.
The pencil uses 0,5mm leads which can be extracted through the side slide button or the advanced shaker lead mechanism. There is a small metal weight inside that presses on the pencil mechanism when you shake the pencil hard enough to simulate you clicking on the top button of a traditional mechanical pencil. It is a pretty simple design but it must have taken some serious work to make a functional slide button and also have a shaker mechanism that advances the lead which needs some serious engineering. This pencil is ideal for those who don’t want to be slowed down by the traditional mechanical pencil push-button mechanism because when the user needs to advance their lead they need to flip their pencil click the top button, flip it back and reposition their grip and with this shaker pencil they just need to flick their wrist once or twice and they are back to their work.
