• Condition and information:
This very special and rare Kaweco pen was made in the late 1950s. This is a larger and thicker pen then its other variants such as the 582 and 584 models. Elite was Kaweco’s top line product during this time. After the Helios and Dia lines, the flagship pens were named Elite. The pen features gold filled trimmings, along with a special body pattern. This beautiful rhomboid shaped pattern is unique, not seen in many other Kaweco pens or even other manufacturer pens. It is a distinctive black with grey lines giving the pen a unique Art Deco flair. It has a very useful large translucent blue ink window. Ink windows were first patented in 1899 by Albert A. Hofmann. The idea caught on and in the 1910s manufacturers became enamored with using celluloid in this manner, in order to allow users to read their ink levels. The piston filler is smooth, with a silicone cork that provides a perfect fit inside the barrel, and unlike older corks, the silicone cork does not need replacement. This Elite comes with a flexible EF size nib. Like many Kaweco nibs, it gives so much with so little effort. You will be amazed at how quickly this pen will turn into your daily writer, as its point will easily extend for you to from all larger sizes up to 3B triple broad. Flexible nibs such as this truly make writing an enjoyable experience, as you really can suit your writing to your mood or to the occasion. The nib is 14K 585 solid gold with a detailed engraved stitching pattern decorating the edge, giving it unique character and flair. Very few Kaweco pens have this nib decoration. Pen is in mint condition with minimal signs of use, no cracks and no deep scratches. It is truly a marvel to write with such a well-preserved relic.
