Condition and information:
One of the rarest 1960's Montblanc pens, the 224 model with a gold plated cap, and especially a pen fitted with such extraordinary nib, OBB to O3B size! The pen is made out of highly processed plastic unlike other plastics, simply does not crack. It's very thick and also has some shock-absorbing properties. This makes the pen very hard to ding or crack. The cap is solid steel, with a thick gold plating deeply brushed, simply very heavy for good balance and protection, meant to last for generations. The gold plating is even applied to the inside meant to prevent rust. This brushed finished on the body and cap does not leave fingertips or finger oil thus the pen always stay clean and shiny.
The pens are in perfect mint condition with minimal signs of use, no cracks, no scratches, no bite marks and no personal inscriptions.

The pen has a precise fit on cap with a very sharp "click" sound the closing the cap. The posting of the cap gives it a very very good writing balance. The nib is what makes this pen a star. It is a solid 14K 585 gold, OBB (double oblique) near to triple oblique O3B. The writing with this nib is remarkable. The lines are extremely wide, up to 1.5mm, most notably the down and up strokes, and the side strokes can be wide or thin depending on the angle of which you hold the pen. You can adjust the line thickness; by increasing the angle of the pen towards the paper the line will be thinner, by reducing the angle the line becomes wider on the side strokes. Also rotating the pen in your hand will produce almost any imaginable line. Such nib are simply great and fun to write with. The pen is wet, meaning it has a large ink-flow to allow for such wide lines, so its a preferable pen for writing letters, postcards, invitations or similar cards where normal to bigger letters size are needed. It is not good for writing in small letters such as small pocked notebook. The nib is super smooth, glides over the paper effortlessly. Highest quality, exceptionally rare, unique appeal and performance Montblanc pen from the 60's!
