Condition and information:
This must be one of the most beautiful pens ever created, and one of Sheaffer's last masterpieces just a decade before they closed down the original Fort Madison, Iowa, plant in 2008, marking the end of its nearly century-long history of American production. This was the Sheaffers flagship pen at the time, hiding a true impeccable masterpiece in quality and design.

The original Targa 1000 model was launched in 1981, and was marketed by Sheaffer's as the Mirror or "Brilliant Chrome" as it had an unmatched glowing finish shine. However, as that was not mirror-like enough, this model was a step up, made out of solid 925 silver, and polished to virtually mirror surface. The pens just feel and look amazing, heavy, tough, sturdy, with clean shape and form factor, a masculine pen in every respect. Due to its true brilliant shine, it is very difficult to capture on photos as it reflects all light that falls on it, so nearly impossible to capture the true looks of the pens.

The pens have a unique feel and design, nearly cylindrical shape with a great feel in the hand due to its weight, considering that the entire pen body and cap are made out of solid silver. They are finished in a very precise and fine straight line flutte pattern that feels nice to the touch. There are several 925 stamps on the bodies of both pens, along with the inscription: Sheaffer U.S.A. Sterling Silver along with the several stamps and the Sheaffer Crown engravings.

The nib on this pen is a true beauty and a surprise. Despite it being one of the most beautiful nibs ever conceived, fully inlayed, it is also nearly fully flexible, rated F fine size, but it will write M, B and even BB when gently pressed. Just the nib design on these Sheaffer pens deserves a Fountain Pen Lifetime Award Achievement. To date this unique embedded nib design hasn't been replicated by many other pen makers due to the difficulty of manufacturing. These niibs are very durable and reliable, besides being a joy to write and look at. The pen is very simple to use and maintain, easy to open and clean.

The fountain pen is accompanied by its ballpoint pen counterpart, built from the same material and with the same quality. It is a twist upper body on/off mechanism, very smooth and precise, and it comes with its original refill.

The set is in absolute mint condition, NOS New Old Stock, and comes in the original packaging as sold, with instruction, set of cartridges, original bladder converter for the fountain pen and a new refill for the ballpoint pen. The only item missing is the nib sticker on the fountain pen, which should look like the one on the ballpoint pen, and read "Sheaffer - 1024x - 14K Fine".
