Leave it to a French pen company to take pen design to another level. Offered here is a very rare and special, Dupont D.Link, introduced in the early to mid-2000 as the first pen in the world to have an interchangeable design by its user. The pen's middle ring can be simply replaced by another such ring, hence changing the overall appearance and style of the pen. The pen comes with one of these rings, but the other 4-6 ring designs can still be found today for sale on third party websites. Even more uniquely, some people fashioned their own ring designs either themselves or at their local jeweler as the ring is a simple cylindrical shape and can be manufactured fairly easily. The pen offered here is one of the two models at the time, the platinum-plated model. The pen was also offered in the Chinese Lacquer variant.

It is a truly unique and gorgeous pen. Only a modern French company can execute this type of timeless and elegant design and appearance, yet this is also one of the toughest pens we had, a pen made to last for generations. The pen is perfectly crafted with high precision machinery and hand made parts, the quality is tangible. The pen is very heavy, the walls of the cap and barrel are unusually thick, the pen is 42gr. heavy, that is a heavyweight in the pen's world. One hold of the pen and the user knows they hold a very special writing instrument, made with every attention to detail.

The nib is an unusual shape and elegantly designed, 18K 750 white gold to match the overall theme, but it is a soft nib, and even though lacking flexibility it does not feel stiff, unlike most modern nibs.
Since the pen is heavy, the writing is effortless, it glides over the paper with very consistent and nice ink flow. Depending on the angle it is held, the user can easily achieve some line variations.
Conveniently it uses standard international cartridges or converter, so the user is not locked into a particular brand of ink cartridges. The pen comes with its original converter as well as a set of 3 original cartridges made in Austria. It also comes in its original presentation box, instructions, and a warranty card which is filled on the day it was purchased in 2005. The pen also features a spring-mounted clip that can extend quite a bit, thus there is no pocket, pouch, or bag slot which this pen cannot be easily be hanged into. The thick platinum plating simply shines, it is difficult to capture in photos, and we recommend the use of a microfiber jewelers cloth no and then (we provide one with each pen) to occasionally gently rub the pen to a complete shine and luster. The pen is in pristine mint condition, with no signs of use, used only on several occasions, and perfectly preserved. No scratches, dings, platinum ware off, or any cosmetic or functional issues.
