The basis for Lamy's decision in favour of modernity as the driving force behind writing instrument design, was not a restrictive, rigid dogma. The first variation on the theme of contemporary writing instrument design was the LAMY cp1 writing instrument of 1974, with its slim cylindrical shape and brush finished metal body which later also appeared in white and metallic lacquer as well as in matt black titanium oxide coating. Cylindrical body with sprung, axle-mounted clip made of solid stainless steel."

It is sometimes hard to believe that a pen that looks like the CP1 is conceived in 1974 and still in production today. The pen offered here is made in the mid to late 1990s, following the original design. There are many variations of the CP1, including a muti-functional or multi-colors pens, but this is the original creation. The precision in craftsmanship and functionality is astonishing. When holding the pen the user feels they hold a special writing instrument. There are very subtle touches to this pen that provide that special feeling. The pens feel solid and heavy; the clip is carved out of a solid steel block and its spring attached to the body; the push button has its own spring in addition to the one on the refill, and always stays in the "ready" up mode, regardless if the pen is off or on. As with all Lamy pens, another of their original masterpieces. The pen is in perfect condition with minimal to no signs of use and comes in its original presentation box.
