Condition and information:
Offered here is a extremely rare pencil by Pelikan, model 250. This pencil was the first pencil made after the factory restarted its work after the WWII, in the late 1940s and early 1950s, and it was made only briefly for approximately 2 years. It is the predecessor of the models 350 and 450, which are based entirely on this model, in fact, only the design is changed, but the mechanism is identical on the 250/350/450. Unlike the 350 and 450, which had a ring in the middle and had either a tortoise brown or green shell, this pencil is uniform in design, and was made only in solid black. Also the clip is much wider with more pronounced "eyes" and "peak" of the Pelikan. Most folks are not aware that on all vintage Pelikans and even some new Pelikan pens, the clip represents a Pelikans head. That is much more visible on this clip.

As with all vintage Pelikan pencils, this is an extremely well built, tough mechanical pencil with brass components, meant to last. The uniform torpedo shape has a nice vintage appeal and all trimmings are gold filled as opposed to gold plated, i.e. that won't wear out as gold plated parts can. Great feel in the hand, very heavy and thick, great handling, balance and writing experience. The pencil uses 1.18 leads, and it has precision push button solid brass mechanism. With such thick lead refills the refill can be deployed 2-3mm out from the tip, which provides the user with a better viewing space and precision while drawing or writing. 130mm in length; the overall body is thick black hard rubber. The pencil has a nice discrete imprinted logo on the side of the upper body "Flott". Also there is a crisp "PELIKAN GUNTHER WAGNER" inscription on the top, honoring the founder of the company. These are still one of the best Pelikan pencils all time unmatched in quality, ergonomics and performance.
