The Parker Pen Company wanted to have a new start in the new millennium. After several acquisitions and change of ownership of the company, including Gillette from 1993 to 2000, Parker was finally purchased by NewellRubermaid Brands in 2000, a company owning, Rotring, PaperMate, Waterman and many other writing instruments brands. They redesigned the logo and took into consideration to improve the already existing models. One of the many new models that came with this new line is Parker Inflection, although this was a new line it had many similarities to the Parker 95 made in the 1990s. The Inflection offered fountain pens, ballpoint pens, rollerball pens, and pencils. In 2004 the Inflection line was discontinued and the company started the Latitude line.

The pen is a Inflection Tranquil Blue Ballpoint Pen which has a beautiful design and smart engineering implemented. This pen is a combination of high attention to detail, rich hues complimented with top performance. It is extremely complex build, made out of many small parts and irregular asymmetrical shapes, including its ring, tip and clip. It has a vibrant color that is achieved by applying many layers of translucent lacquer and adding a satin effect over the stainless steel base. This look is finished with a 14k gold plated trim. The blue and gold combination stands out as a design. There is attention brought up to the last detail in order to bring the feel of sophistication with every writing occasion. Besides its beautiful and unique two-toned gold and black design, the clip also has great functionality and features unusually extra large flexibility which means it can be put over any thick fabric of a pocket or a notebook cover. At the top the pen is decorated with a beautiful tassie in a teardrop like shape.

The pen uses a twist mechanism that is very practical. The pen takes any G2 Standard ballpoint refill and comes with its original Parker refill that is still writing. The pen feels nice in the hand and represents a great combination of weight, balance, and good grip. It is the perfect writing instrument for frequent use since it produces smooth and easy writing.
