They may have gotten that last part a bit wrong as the pen uses standard mini-slim metal refills '56M", which will we include a new one per your choice of color, in addition to the original pre installed "ink cartridge specially designed for this pen". In addition to Caran d'Ache's own statement, we like to add that this pen pays homage to one of the best and most recognizable Caran d'Ache pens ever made, and possibly one of the most recognizable pen shapes in the world, the original Ecridor Model made since the early 1960s. The Ecridor by CdA is one of the longest produced models in the company's history, and probably in the pen history; running close to 60 years. This is a new smaller version of this pen, which currently retails for approximately $170. The pen is indeed compact and perfect to store in a pocket with our without its leather sleeve, or in a notebook. The pen is Palladium coated which shines brilliantly, same as a freshly polished chrome. Even though only 96mm it is same in thickness as the original model, it is also heavy thus it feels nice in the hand as it can still rest on the inside of the hand when writing. It features a smooth and precise push button mechanism. There is a small discrete inscription located on the back "UBS". It comes in its original Caran d'Ache genuine black leather sleeve/pouch, which fits the pen perfectly and makes sure it won't be easily lost in your bag or purse. A timeless writing instrument by the best Swiss pen manufacturer.
